The traditional rural establishments in Uruguay, known as Estancias, welcome all visitors, offering their landscape and rural costumes as a singular way to enjoy a different adventure. Here, the tourists can just enjoy the simplicity of the local people or the intense big or small hunting, bird watching, fishing in rivers, streams or lakes, horseback riding and ecological safaris.

Most estancias keep their original architecture and have limited lodging capacity, thus assuring a warm and personalized attention.

The access to the establishments are generally good and the distances are never very extensive. The services in the rural Uruguayan establishments have improved very much, and even though each of the places maintains their traditional features, many of them offer parallel activities, such as horse riding, fishing and sport activities. What will not be absent in the menu will be the barbecue, the roast beef, home made bread, fruits and vegetables, which are very traditional among the Uruguayans, and when they are done in the country, their flavor and taste is even much better.
