Mountain range tourism in Uruguay takes place in the department of Lavalleja, where the slogan "Unique, Magical and Natural" is a faithful description of the image that the visitor remembers after discovering this region.

AREQUITA HILL (CERRO AREQUITA).
10 kilometers north from the city of Minas, “Cerro Arequita” stands like a giant made of granite. A 230 meters elevation of volcanic origin. The “Mirador” restaurant offers guided tours of the cave and mountain climbing. There is a municipal campsite very close by with capacity for 3000 people.
PENITENTE FALL (SALTO DEL PENITENTE).
At the Kilometer 125 of Route Nº 8, the visitors will find the entrance to the “Salto del
Penitente”, a 50 meters high waterfall surrounded by a beautiful and peaceful natural environment.

VILLA SERRANA.
The entrance is located on Route 8, Km 139.5 or Km 145. It was originally built as
an European style vacation villa in 1945, by Architect Julio Vilamajó. Its emblematic “Ventorrillo de la Buena Vista” is a landmark.
There is a reservoir for fishing lovers, and trails that provide scenic walks or horse rides for
nature lovers. Excellent gastronomy and hotel facilities are available.
SALUS PARK (PARQUE SALUS).
Located on Route 8, Km 109. This park has a vast forest with picnic sites and facilities. In this park is where the beverage factory of the company Salus, bottles its line of products.
“Parador Salus” offers accommodation and gastronomy, and at “Restaurante de Campo” you can find typical local food, play area for children and guided horse tours.
